PokerTracker 4 vs Poker Debrief

The long-standing database and HUD. It imports your hand histories continuously, builds a queryable database of every hand you and your opponents have played, and shows statistics on the table while you play.

Price

PokerTracker 4

  • $64.99 to $159.99, a one-off licence rather than a subscription

Free tier: Trial only.

Poker Debrief

  • 3 analyses: $9 for 3 sessions
  • 12 analyses: $30 for 12 sessions
  • 30 analyses: $60 for 30 sessions
  • No subscription. Credits never expire.

Free tier: one complete session debrief, not a preview.

Where PokerTracker 4 is the better tool

  • It owns your entire history in a queryable database, over years. We read what you give us.
  • It shows a live HUD, which is a different job we deliberately do not do.
  • It is a one-off purchase, so a heavy user pays once and never again.
  • Its filtering and reporting are far more powerful than anything here.

A comparison page that cannot say this is an advertisement. These are real, and if one of them is what you need, buy theirs.

Where the two differ

  • It reports statistics. It does not tell you which decision was wrong or why, and reading 'fold to c-bet 62%' does not tell a player what to do differently.
  • It cannot be used at all on GGPoker, WPT Global, CoinPoker or BCPoker, which ban third-party trackers. We can, because we read a finished export after the game.
  • It requires installation, a database and maintenance. We need a file.

The short answer

Not really a competitor, more a complement, and the two answer different questions. If your room permits it and you want a database, buy it. If your room bans it, or you want an explanation rather than a statistic, it cannot help you at all.

Common questions

Do I need PokerTracker to analyse my hands?

No. A tracker accumulates a database and shows a HUD while you play. Reading a hand history after the session needs neither. Poker Debrief computes VPIP, PFR, 3-bet and the rest directly from the hands in the file you give it.

What can I use if my room bans HUDs?

Post-session analysis of an export, which is what Poker Debrief does. GGPoker, WPT Global, CoinPoker and BCPoker ban third-party HUDs and trackers, so a tracker is not an option there at all. Reading the room's own export file after the game is finished is not a HUD and is not real-time assistance.

How to check any of this yourself

Every price above carries the date it was checked, because prices move and an undated comparison is worthless within a quarter. If something here is out of date, it is a mistake rather than a tactic, and we would rather hear about it.

The part you cannot check from a table is whether the analysis is any good. So read a real debrief before paying anyone, ours included, and the first one on your own hands is free and complete.

$3 a session, and the first one is free

No subscription, no monthly cap on hands, and credits that never expire. Read one on your own session before deciding anything.

No card. No subscription. $3 a session after that, and credits never expire.
